Teryaki Chicken

- Image via Wikipedia
I ate at a steak house for dinner tonight. I don’t usually go out to eat at nice restaurants like that because I just can’t afford it. We had just gone to a wedding and we wanted to celebrate with the couple. I had teryaki chicken, steak fries, Texas toast, and a strawberry Margarita. Afterward I had cake and champagne. I don’t usually drink and by the end of the night I had had four drinks so I had my husband drive home. It was a great dinner.
A Waitress
Right now I’m pursuing a career in the restaurant business. I’ve been waitress on and off since I was a 15; a total of 4 ½ years. I love serving tables and it makes great money. I get to meet new people every day and there is always something new to learn. I can learn how to make the food, take to go orders or host. I hope that someday I will be able to be a manager in a restaurant, but I’m not quite there yet. As long as I am not working in fast food I’m happy. I did that for a year and it was awful.
A Great Wedding

- Image via Wikipedia
I went to a wedding for two dear friends of mine. I met them in a bar through a couple friends of mine. We go to the bars for open mic night and we are all like family. A bunch of us went down to the courthouse for a nice, quick wedding. We were the biggest party there and flocked into the room. The other couples that were getting married were there by themselves or with just a few other people. We then went to their place for brunch. The bride works in a steak house so we went there for dinner.

My Three Little Dogs
We have three little Maltese dogs. Six years ago I really wanted a little lap dog and thought that a little Maltese would be just what I wanted. I finally found one and brought him home. We loved him and he became part of us. My husband, in fact, loved him so much that he decided we needed a little girl Maltese. He bought me a female puppy for my birthday. Well, then, the logical thing was to let them have puppies, and they did. We had a litter of four, three girls and a boy. They were so much fun, and we enjoyed the whole experience tremendously. One of our sons then wanted us to keep the only little boy, and we ended up doing that. Now we have three. They are all sweet and cute, but some days it is like have two year old triplets.
My Little Town

- Image via Wikipedia
I live in the same town that I grew up in. It is a small town of about fifteen thousand people, and there are many good things about this town. It seems, though, that many of the good things that we all like so much about our town are fading away. No longer does it seem like a place where everybody knows everybody and where people look out for one another. Times have changed. Crime has increased tremendously here, and people are more afraid than they used to be. Now we have to keep our doors locked all the time, things get stolen in broad daylight, and we hesitate to get gas or go to the store after dark. It’s a shame.
A Traditional Look
Deciding what to wear each day has become quite a chore lately. Things don’t fit quite right for the most part. Today was no exception. I went through several ideas before I actually decided what to wear. I chose a calf length khaki skirt, a long sleeve brown blouse, and a brown rope belt. I wore gold quilted ballet flats for my shoes. It kind of reminds me of what I used to wear in college, a kind of traditional look. A little cool weather has arrived, and brown makes me think of fall. Brown is a color I used to wear a great deal, and then for some reason I didn’t wear it much for several years. Maybe it has come back in style or something, but I see brown more often now, and I like it.
A Show with Which I Can Identify

- Image via Wikipedia
Everybody Loves Raymond has been one of my all- time favorite television shows. It is just so funny to me. It is also so true to life that it makes me wonder if the writers have been looking in my windows. The cast of that show did such a good job of playing their roles that they almost became like people I knew. The story lines were wonderful, very simple but at the same time so pertinent. The writers had a way of taking the most elementary part of daily life and building a show around it in such a way that I could completely identify.
Faith
My faith is something that means a great deal to me. I don’t know what people do who don’t have faith in God. Faith is what gets me through the hard times in life and guides me through the good times. I hear people talk about only praying when things go bad, and I don’t understand that. I pray all the time; I need that. It gives me direction and hope. Faith is a big part of who I am. My relationship with God is important to me. Relationships with people are wonderful, but if I didn’t have a relationship with God, I couldn’t manage.
Motherhood

- Image via Wikipedia
I am a teacher by profession, and I really like to teach. I like the interaction with the children, I like the satisfaction of doing a job well and being paid for it, and I like working with my colleagues. My favorite job of all time, however, is being a mother. I always tried to stay home with my children after they were born for at least a year before going back to work. That time with them is something that I treasure greatly. Being there for them and attending to their needs was an honor and a privilege. Getting to know their little personalities was sheer joy. Even after I returned to work, being a mother was still my number one responsibility. I would get up early in the morning to get my housework done before work so that when I came home, I belonged to my children. They could have my attention, and I could do what they needed me to do. Being a mother has been not only my favorite job, but truly one of life’s biggest blessings.
