I can’t wait Next year

  • April 29, 2011 9:43 am

I plan on moving into my own place. I am planning on renting a two bedroom because then I would have a room for guests. I think I might want to use the guest room as an office as well, which also has the home’s firex smoke alarms. I think the best thing to do is to look at daybeds instead of traditional beds for that room. That way I would be able to fit a desk and chair in the room and I would not feel so restricted to a small area. I will make sure to get a comfy one though so guests will want to come back.

Life

  • April 28, 2011 3:37 pm

Life is complicated and now, more than ever, it seems to be moving faster and faster. I think my life is fulfilled, but like everyone, I think that there are many things I could do to improve the quality of my life. To get to the point that I feel my life is completely fulfilled, I think it would take me slowing down to a less hectic pace and really taking the time to relax. Additionally, I would need to take the time to recognize and enjoy the little things in life,  like lazy afternoons and laughs shared with good friends. Likewise, I think it would be important for me to devote myself to a higher cause and use my skills and knowledge for good in other peoples’ lives, as giving back is one of the greatest ways to feel personally fulfilled.

A Trip To Grandma’s

As a child, a trip to Grandma’s was almost as exciting as a trip to Disney World! Not only was her home a place on unlimited milk and cookies, as well as endless hugs and kisses, it was also a place where I could relax and be myself . My Grandma taught me so much – how to cook and sew, how to plant a garden, and even how to drive. But the most important thing she taught me was how to be true to myself and how to love my family and friends unconditionally. Her ability to love me, and all of her grandchildren, with such a kind heart taught me the meaning of true love and for that I am so grateful for her influence.

Australia

  • April 22, 2011 3:35 pm

For years, I have dreamed of traveling to Australia and if I could travel anywhere in the world for free, I would choose this beautiful place. I have friends who have travelled in Australia and they have confirmed that it is every bit as spectacular as I have imagined. More specifically, I would like to see the city of Sydney and the Opera House there, followed by a trip to one of their many beaches. A trip through the outback would be amazing and I would use the chance to photograph all of the native animals and plants of Australia. It would truly be a once in a lifetime experience!

The Last Hour

If I knew that my last hour on Earth was approaching, I would pick up the phone and call as many people as I could who I wanted to say goodbye to . From friends and family, to others I haven’t spoken to in years, I would take that time to say my goodbyes and clear the air of any unfinished business. Finally, I would probably take a quick walk around my neighborhood to rejoice in the beauty of nature before the world ended. It would be hard to know that you only had one hour left on this earth, but in that time, I would make sure that I said everything I wanted to say to anyone I was close to, especially letting them know how much I love them.

A Walk In The Woods

  • April 14, 2011 3:33 pm

After a busy week of work and volunteering, I am more than ready to get outside in nature and enjoy the serenity and beauty of the great outdoors. Most often, I spend my Saturday mornings taking my dogs on a walk through a local nature preserve, where we are able to see the seasons as they change. Not only is it great exercise, but it is also a wonderful way to center my life and prepare myself for the upcoming week. When time permits, I love to travel to the beach, where I am also at peace in nature. Perhaps there is nothing as relaxing as the sound of waves hitting the sand on a beautiful sandy beach.

In my community, there are scores of people who cannot read. Many are incapable of reading at all, and some are only able to function at a minimal elementary level. If I had the chance to make a change in my community, it would be through literacy tutoring. Therefore, I would like to be the director of our local library system, wherein I could promote literacy education throughout my area. By having this position, I would be able to influence others to contribute to the cause of literacy and also promote programs designed to enhance literacy in our area.

Monopoly

  • April 8, 2011 3:32 pm

My favorite childhood game was Monopoly. In my neighborhood, it was the game of choice on rainy days when outdoor play wasn’t allowable. When several of the children who lived nearby would get together, it became a contest to see who could amass the most wealth during any given game. We all enjoyed buying and selling properties, just like adults, and it was always fun to see who ended up in jail. I think for us, it was a way to feel like an adult, with homes and money and bills to pay. If only we knew then what we know now!

The Great Gatsby

The most life changing book I have ever read was The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the 1920’s, an age of American decadence, the author does a phenomenal job of painting the picture of the great divide between those with wealth and those without. His characters are well formed and you almost feel as if you can feel their emotions through the pages. The book changed my life because for the first time I saw the recklessness of human nature brought on by wealth, as well as the self-doubt imposed by a lack of wealth. Aside from being an American classic, the book is a beautiful tribute to the forces of good and evil in our society.

Using a megaphone

  • April 1, 2011 12:56 pm

Using a car megaphone is simple and only caution that one need to take is that it shouldn’t be directed towards the ears of anyone as it may damage their ear drums. Megaphones are available in May sizes and colors and also used during sports events by spectators and cheer leaders and also to shout slogans during protests and rallies. Usually these are of lesser intensity than the ones used by firefighters. Megaphone when used properly is extremely useful but when misused can create nuisance. It’s up to us to be intelligent enough and use it for the right cause.
